The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. The Goals interconnect and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve each Goal and target by 2030. (Source) What are the Sustainable development goals A.K.A Global Goals?

What is Global Goal 3?
Ensuring healthy lives and promoting the well-being at all ages.
It comprises 13 targets and 26 indicators. (Source1)
What does that mean?
Reducing mortality rates globally by enabling and increasing access to health care services, health education, immunisations, vaccines, treatments and methods of prevention.
Who does this affect?
In short - Everyone.
The Long Version is like this...
Infant Mortality - Each year more than 5 million children still die before age 5. (Source2)
Maternal Mortality - In 2015, an estimated 303,000 women died of causes related to pregnancy or childbirth. (Source3)
Communicable Diseases -
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) - 41 million deaths per year.
NCDs disproportionately affect people in low- and middle-income countries where more than three quarters of global NCD deaths – 32 million – occur. (Source4)
*Also known as chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, cancers, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes. The result of a combination of genetic, physiological, environmental and behaviours factors.
Substance abuse - Globally its estimated that around 318,000 deaths in 2016 were the direct result of a substance use disorder. (Source5)
Mental Health - Collectively affects 970 million individuals. (Source6)
Global Road Traffic Deaths - WHO estimated in 2016, 1.35 million people die each year on the roads. (Source7)
Okay. OKAY. Enough Numbers!
What can we do?
Start with promoting and protecting your own health and the health of those around you, by making well-informed choices, practicing safe sex and vaccinating your children.
You can raise awareness in your community about the importance of good health, healthy lifestyles as well as people’s right to quality health care services.
Take action through schools, clubs, teams and organisations to promote better health for all, especially for the most vulnerable such as women and children.
You can also hold your government, local leaders and other decision makers accountable to their commitments to improve people’s access to health and health care.
